All SWAP'd Out

I have no idea what to sew next, but I know it won't be with a plan.  Not that I've soured on SWAP-ing, I'm just not feeling it right now.  The grey motorcycle jacket was the final piece of a mini six-piece swap that I started in September.  Now that it's complete, I feel ZERO inspiration from the next group of fabrics I've bundled together.  Something is too...hmm... planned (?) about it.  I don't know what it is, but I have no interest in doing it now.  No 6PACs, mini wardrobes, or Crazy 8s.

So for now I think I will focus on filling the gaps in my wardrobe.  I have lots of bottoms, but not very many tops or dresses.  I also want to sew some garments from my aging collection of Burda World of Fashion Magazines.   There are quite a few from 2009 that are on my list:

1-2009-106

4-2009-101

5-2009-110

8-2009-107

8-2009-132

Anyone else out of SWAP mode?  What are some of your current sewing plans and inspirations?

L

  1. We seriously need to hang out!

I SWAP'd in October and planned to do another mini wardrobe in November but then was like "forget that!" and sewed a bunch of random stuff! :)

I'm sewing for others til my scale takes a but of a turn. I plan on taking a mini sewcation in January when my first goal is reached. There's this Burda jacket/coat I want to give a try.

    1. Bwahahaha. My scale needs to take a 'but' of a turn too! I think that's why I'm having some indecision on what to do next. I try to sew for the body I have, but SWAPs are not holding my interest.

Oh, and yes, we have to hang out!

  2. I'm feeling you on this. I think that there's so much on my mental "want to sew list" that I can't make up my mind exactly where to go next.

  3. Hi L, yes, I looked at SWAP - and I just don't think I can go there at the moment. This year I have made so many basics that I need to do something different :). Having said that, I can always change my mind (and might!). Also, can you email me, stylishsarah251@gmail.com so I can add you to the Make a Garment a Month Challenge. I have to send you an invite to add you.

    1. I used to enjoy sewing with a plan. I'm just not motivated by it anymore. Because there are so many things I want to sew, I am wracked by indecision on what to plan.

  4. I have tried SWAPing many times in the past and have failed miserably. So not a lot of pre-planning but I sometimes try to focus on a set or something similar but not a whole planned out wardrobe. Sewing mood changes a lot so it just doesn't work for me.

    1. I agree! My sewing mood right now is to just sew what I want - whether it coordinates or not.

  5. I have never SWAPed but my hat is off to everyone who does!
Wait, you finished the moto jacket? Somehow I missed that!!

    1. I did an 11-piece wardrobe a few years ago. By the time I finished, I was bored with the plan and the color scheme. 6PACs are far more manageable, but that's not even interesting right now.

  6. You did an awesome job on your jacket and can clearly understand being swapped out. Right now I am sewing for the moment. Basically sewing pieces to pair with rtw items.

    1. Ah yes, "sewing for the moment." This is my thinking.

  7. I've never SWAPped and was hoping to try it out in 2013, but that definitely takes some dedication. I usually sew by mood. Great motorcycle jacket btw. -Nizzy

    1. If I am to keep the sewjo flowing, I can't be hampered by stuff that doesn't interest me. I am with you on sewing by mood.

Thanks for the compliment on my jacket.
