8 Weeks...

...is how long I went without a fabric purchase.  Well, almost eight weeks.  I bought two yards of quilting cotton to make more napkins and two yards of lining for my wool jacket.  That doesn't count, though.  Those fabrics came in and went right back out into the regular rotation.

These latest purchases on the other hand...the stash that shall not be named has just grown by several yards.

Tell me I'm not the only one watching the wagon ride into the sunset.

  1. Now and then I promise myself that I will stop buying fabric, but I fall off the wagon often.

    1. Ahhh...company. At least we have someone to talk to whilst the wagon rides off without us. =)

  3. I am being really good refraining from fabric purchases. I had to stop. Setting up my new sewing cave, I'm finding fabric I didn't know I had. Two months later, I'm still finding boxes of fabric. The last two years I went crazy. Haven't purchased fabric in two or three months--I've gotten real close, but didn't give in. I think I could make a garment a week for the next three or four years (or more) without making another fabric purchase. It was time to put the brakes on. Best Wishes on your fabric fast :) !!

    1. Though I do have moments of weakness, I have cut back on buying fabric A LOT. The pieces that came home this time have definite plans. I just need to act. Like you, I could make a garment a week for the next few years without buying a single inch more of fabric. I gotta get back on track!

  4. Confession is good for the soul they say - so here I am confessing to just one or two (or three or four, or maybe more) pieces have arrived, but really, they just top up the classic, will be wanted one day and then the shop won't have them stash. So I am sure that won't count :)

    1. LOL That's what I tell myself: what if the store doesn't have the fabric when I need (really want) it? I need to tell myself something different. LOL

  5. 8 weeks is forever. I went 26 days. Oooh wait, I went the entire month of September...but I was sick then so I don't know if that counts ;-)

  6. I was doing really well (hadn't purchased fabric in over a month) and then fell of the wagon badly when I hit a really stressful patch at work over the last two weeks. At least I've sewn up half of the merino wool that I purchased from FM the last time that I fell off the wagon.

  7. Wow - impressed. A week without buying fabrics or patterns or threads or buttons etc would be an amazing achievement for me!!!

  8. I am on a stash diet too. And it is sooo hard to do. Congratulations on your eight weeks. I am working on two weeks at a time... I am also trying to give up pattern buying but I think I may refine that to commercial pattern buying.
