Now that the great water debacle of 2023 is over, I finally got some sewing done. In all, it took about three weeks for me to return the basement back to normal - including completely drying and stowing all of the damaged patterns. They're now housed in plastic bins a good distance from the water valves. 😬
Despite the unfortunate event, it did serve as a good time to organize some of the basement and toss or donate what I don't need. Purging fabric and patterns is an ongoing intention and having the basement in total disarray was a reminder that I need to keep it up.
This is prompting me to be even more proactive with sewing the stash and thinking really hard before impulse-buying fabric and patterns. I do not want to win the SABLE Award and bae will certainly be happy if I cut down a good 90% of what I have. Now, we all know a 90% decrease will not happen on purpose, but can let some of it go.
Sorting through and drying the boxes of soggy patterns was a real wake up call. There were many patterns that I'd long forgot I had. Why have I not sewn them? What is the purpose of stashing them away in boxes? Oof. I think part of it is nostalgia (they're out of print) and the other part is fear of missing out (pattern looked good on someone else). But in reality, though, 'will I make them' is the question that I need to keep asking.
Anyway...about the sewing...
I've made a few garments that I'd like to share and finished another Oro Rosa handbag. I've been wearing my Closet Core Kelly Anorak and really, really like it. When I finished it, I was 'meh' about it, but it's grown on me a lot since wearing it the last few weeks. I hope to share about that in the next post.

I am thankful the casualty wasn't worse, and that you maintained a positive outlook.
